
Not so Sloppy Joes
2 lbs lean ground turkey
1 onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, pressed
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp ground black pepper
2 cans (8oz) each tomato sauce
4 Tblsp ketchup
2 Tblsp brown sugar
4 Tblsp mustard, yellow prepared
1 tsp ground allspice
pita pocket bread rounds, cut in half ( I use whole wheat)
Sliced Avacado, cheddar cheese, tomato slices for fillings.
1. Place ground turkey in skillet and cook over medium heat 10-12 minutes until no longer pink.
2. Add onion and garlic, sprinkle with salt and pepper and continue cooking 2-3 minutes until onion is tender. Stir in tomato sauce.
3. Add ketchup, brown sugar, mustard and allspice and remove skillet from heat.
4. Fill pita half’s with Joe sauce and toppings desired.
