I normally use a butter cream frosting using crisco so that it holds up if its warm outside or I have to make ahead of time. However I wanted to try a real butter frosting that tasted better. This is a winner! Easy to make and held up very nicely.
Easy Butter Cream Frosting
1 stick butter (1/2 cup) softened, not melted
4 - 4 1/2 cups powdered sugar
5-6 Tblsp milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
Put butter in mixing bowl, using electric mixer whip butter for a minute or two until creamy and smooth. Add 1 cup of powdered sugar at a time, mixing on low each time. Add vanilla and 1 Tblsp of milk, keep adding a little at a time of the milk until desired consistancy. If using for frosting a cake, you want it on the thicker, but spreadable side. If using to decorate cookies, make it more on the softer side. EnJOY!
