Super Chocolaty Ice Cream

This is an altered recipe, inspired by a patient from a dental office I worked at. This person won 1st prize for his ice cream at the local fair! I changed the egg and chocolate portion to make a little less rich and the cooking process is altered as well. This is the creamiest, dreamiest ice cream ever!
Super Chocolaty Ice Cream
½ an 8oz box of Hershey’s cocoa powder (4oz) unsweetened
3 cups whole milk
3 cups sugar
5 eggs
3 tsp vanilla extract
3 cups heavy cream

Combine cream, milk and chocolate in a medium saucepan over medium heat and cook until mixture almost boils and chocolate is mixed in, about 508 minutes. Reduce heat to low.
Meanwhile beat eggs, sugar and vanilla with electric hand mixer until light yellow and smooth, about 1-2 minutes. Add 4 Tblsp of warm cream/chocolate mixture, stirring continuosly to prevent the eggs from curdling. Once your egg mix has been tempered add it to the chocolate/cream mixture on low heat stirring continuosly until slightly thickendd and mixture coats the back of a spoon, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat, cool, place in refrigerator about 1hr. Pour half the mixture into ice cream machine and turn on for 30 minutes. Place into Tupperware and freeze until ready to serve. Re-freeze ice cream maker bowl and repeat.
EnJOY!
